Fund for our Economic Future asserted the need for new Northeast Ohio leadership in its “Two Tomorrows” report last year.
Now, the group’s president, Brad Whitehead, is stepping down after 15 years.
“I didn’t want to be standing on some perch saying (the region needs new leadership),” Whitehead, 59, said. “I wanted to lead with an example. I’m still planning to work on things near and dear to my heart, but every day I see great people who are ready to step up.”
He won’t leave the fund, instead moving into a “senior advisor” role while working as a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program. Brookings is a Washington DC-based nonprofit which researches “new ideas for solving problems facing society at the local, national and global level.”
