CLEVELAND–Aug. 17, 2010–The Fund for Our Economic Future announced today that Fund President Brad Whitehead has been appointed to the Ohio Venture Capital Authority (OVCA) by Governor Ted Strickland.
The OVCA is charged with establishing the terms and conditions of an investment policy governing the deployment of the Ohio Venture Capital Fund Program to increase private investment capital for Ohio companies in the early stages of business development. The program seeks to drive entrepreneurial growth, job creation and economic prosperity in Ohio by creating a “fund of funds” portfolio of seed and early stage capital investments.
“The Fund for Our Economic Future and the State of Ohio share the goal of accelerating the growth of early stage companies,” Whitehead said. “The Fund’s support of entrepreneurial assistance programs in Northeast Ohio is aligned with the efforts of the OVCA and I look forward to working with other members of the authority to maximize the amount of capital that is made available to the state’s most promising companies.”
The OVCA is comprised of three members. Other appointed members include Mark Williams, executive vice president and director of strategic planning of KeyCorp and Dr. S. Michael Camp, academic director of the Center for Entrepreneurship of the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University.
As president of the Fund, Whitehead oversees the Fund’s grantmaking, research and civic engagement efforts to strengthen the region’s economic competitiveness. He previously served as a director at the international management consulting firm of McKinsey & Company for 20 years. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Harvard College.
