For Immediate Release

CLEVELAND—The Fund for Our Economic Future (Fund) today announced that Orlando Grant will serve as the Director of Recompete Plan—Cleveland. In this role, Grant will work closely with the Cleveland Site Readiness for Good Jobs Fund, the City of Cleveland, and the Cuyahoga County Land Bank to deliver a strategy to connect land use and growth initiatives with community development.

“We are excited to welcome Orlando Grant to lead the Recompete project,” said Fund President Bethia Burke. “His expertise in community economic development, coupled with his passion for Northeast Ohio, will enable him to deliver a robust and workable strategy that will bring family-sustaining jobs to residents.”

Grant joins the Fund from the Centers for Families and Children where he has served as Career Coach Manager since 2021. His earlier experience includes Burten Bell Carr Development Inc, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain, and the Life Exchange Center. Grant also has a strong passion for community service, having served on the boards of Accessible Housing, St. Clair House, and currently serving as the Board Chair for The Building & Leveraging Opportunities (BLO) Foundation. He earned a bachelor’s degree from The University of Akron and a master’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University.

“We are thrilled to have Orlando’s leadership on this work,” said Brad Whitehead, Managing Director of The Site Readiness for Good Jobs Fund. “Our mission is to revitalize disinvested industrial land in Cleveland, which we are doing to create good jobs, reduce blight, build community wealth, and promote sustainability. Orlando’s work is critical to our success.”

The Recompete Pilot Program is a $500,000 strategy development grant awarded through the Economic Development Administration to bring vacant or underused industrial land on the near east side of Cleveland back into productive use, create 8,750 jobs, and support job access for 2,500 residents. Grant will work closely with The Site Readiness for Good Jobs Fund and other key partners to produce the strategy. This project builds on significant previous investments towards inclusive growth for the neighborhoods surrounding the Opportunity Corridor.
