Vibrant NEO 2040

Feb 28, 2014 | Research

In 2011, the Fund worked with a team from across Northeast Ohio that garnered a $4.25 million Sustainable Communities Initiative grant through the Department of Housing and Urban Development. With these funds, scores of Northeast Ohio civic institutions (collectively, the Northeast Ohio Sustainable Communities Consortium) collaborated on Vibrant NEO 2040, a comprehensive land use and infrastructure plan to boost economic competitiveness, promote equity and sustain natural resources. The thorough analysis showed that unchecked, no-growth sprawl is harmful to our region fiscally and environmentally, and is not sustainable.

This important piece of research continues to influence the Fund’s job access agenda today.
